About FIELD
The Farmworkers Institute of Education & Leadership Development (FIELD) is committed to uplifting the economic prospects of underserved populations in rural and minority communities. Founded in 1978, FIELD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunities through education, workforce development, and community support.
FIELD works to inspire individuals to achieve self-sufficiency through practical education, job training, and pathways to meaningful employment. Through a range of educational and workforce development programs, FIELD supports individuals and families in overcoming barriers and building stronger futures.
Whether developing skills to support wildfire prevention and environmental stewardship, addressing the impacts of climate change, or promoting the use of clean energy, FIELD’s programs prepare participants for careers that strengthen communities and improve the quality of life across California.
By equipping people with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities needed to participate fully in the California economy, FIELD helps individuals and families move toward long-term stability, empowerment, and self-sufficiency.

FIELD’s Mission
To foster economic & social prosperity through educational and workforce development programs.
- EPIC Charter High School – serving 18+ year old adults on campuses across California
- English as a Second Language (ESL) – offering free classes to English learners since 2000
- Career Technical Pathways (CTE) – 7 career technical pathways that train students in Social Business Enterprises
- Conservation Corps (est. 2017) – 2 divisions including Natural Resources and Recycling
