FIELD Celebrates 32% Increased Enrollment in EPIC Adult High School Program
Students Respond Positively To Flexible Class Schedules; Current FIELD Leadership Prepares For November WASC Committee Visit
Farmworkers Institute of Education and Leadership Development (FIELD) is pleased to report a 32% increase in its EPIC Adult High School enrollment this year, with over 720 students currently enrolled. EPIC Adult High School has graduated over 1,500 students, many who are immigrant farmworkers and from our underserved communities.
“We are very pleased at our current enrollment numbers and stay steadfast in our commitment to serve our community and the underserved population.” said Ines DeLuna, FIELD/EPIC Board Chair. “EPIC is a free program of FIELD that allows adults to earn their high school diploma and improve their futures and their families’ lives.”
“In our ongoing effort to develop essential academic standards, our current leadership is working to prepare for our upcoming WASC Committee Visit in November” said Nora Dominguez, FIELD Chief Operating Officer. “There were several WASC issues that were not addressed timely under previous leadership, thus jeopardizing our accreditation and charter status. With both of these at risk, our current Leadership is diligently taking steps to ensure we are in compliance and can continue the good work that was envisioned by FIELD founder, Cesar Chavez.”
FIELD does not discuss specifics of any pending personnel matters. Previous Chair, David Villarino has been on a sabbatical leave since April 2024 and more recently was put on a paid administrative leave while FIELD conducts an investigation that is presently on-going. While on leave, Mr. Villarino is not acting as an agent or in any official capacity for FIELD or EPIC.
