FIELD/Kern County Partnership Receives Immigrant Educational Grant

We are pleased to announce that Kern County, in partnership with FIELD and the Bakersfield College Launchpad, has received funding from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development for the Local Immigrant Integration and Inclusion Grant for an immigrant entrepreneurship course for those seeking to start a business. 

FIELD’s Career Technical Education Pathway in Business Management will use $250,000 to provide a program that will strengthen the entrepreneurship skills of local immigrant residents. 

Both aspiring and experienced immigrant entrepreneurs are invited to enroll in this free, two-semester program. The course will cover topics ranging from start-up planning to growth and sustainability. It will cover theory as well as practice, encouraging students to start or grow their business during the program. 

This program is designed to be flexible to accommodate students’ schedules. Participants can choose from morning and evening classes, as well as remote content. Course sections will start on January 22, 2024, and are held at the Bakersfield College Launchpad located 2100 Chester Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
